What it is
Inulin is a naturally occurring storage carbohydrate and soluble dietary fiber belonging to the fructan class, primarily extracted commercially from chicory root (Cichorium intybus). In nutritional supplements, it is typically supplied as a fine, white, soluble powder composed of β-(2→1) fructosyl-fructose chains with a terminal glucose unit. Because human digestive enzymes cannot break down β-configuration fructose bonds, inulin reaches the colon intact.

Safety & who should check first
