What it is
Para-Aminobenzoic Acid (PABA) is an organic aminobenzoic acid derivative historically classified as Vitamin B10. Although not an essential human vitamin because human cells cannot synthesize folate directly from PABA, it serves as a critical substrate for beneficial intestinal bacteria to synthesize endogenous tetrahydrofolate (Vitamin B9). In daily multivitamin formulas, PABA acts as an intermediate for cellular coenzyme synthesis, supports structural hair keratin pigmentation, protects against UV-induced oxidative stress, and works synergistically with B-complex vitamins.
